How KICCI collects, uses, and protects your personal information.

Last updated: 14 February 2026

1. Who we are

KICCI — the Korean-Irish Chamber of Commerce & Industry — is an unincorporated association based in Seoul, Republic of Korea. We operate as a voluntary membership organisation facilitating trade and investment between Ireland and Korea.

For the purposes of data protection legislation, KICCI is the data controller. You can contact us at info@kicci.ie.

2. What data we collect

We collect personal information that you provide directly to us, including:

  • Name, job title, and company name
  • Email address and telephone number
  • Business address
  • Membership application details
  • Event registration and attendance records
  • Correspondence and enquiries sent to us

We may also collect limited technical data when you visit our website, such as your IP address, browser type, and pages visited. We do not use tracking cookies or third-party analytics at this time.

3. Why we collect it

We process your personal data for the following purposes:

  • To manage your membership and provide chamber services
  • To communicate with you about events, news, and developments relevant to Ireland–Korea business
  • To respond to your enquiries
  • To maintain our member directory (with your consent)
  • To distribute our newsletter (with your consent)
  • To comply with legal obligations

4. Legal basis for processing

Under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the Korean Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA), we process your data on the following bases:

  • Contractual necessity — to fulfil our obligations as a membership organisation
  • Legitimate interest — to operate the chamber, communicate with stakeholders, and promote Ireland–Korea trade
  • Consent — for newsletter subscriptions, directory inclusion, and any optional communications. You may withdraw consent at any time
  • Legal obligation — where required by applicable law

5. Who we share data with

We do not sell your personal data. We may share information with:

  • Other KICCI members, where you have consented to inclusion in the member directory
  • Event co-organisers, where relevant to your registration
  • Service providers who assist with our operations (e.g. email distribution, website hosting), under appropriate data protection agreements
  • Legal authorities, where required by law

6. International data transfers

KICCI operates across Ireland and Korea. Your data may be transferred between these jurisdictions as necessary for chamber operations. Where data is transferred internationally, we ensure appropriate safeguards are in place in accordance with GDPR and PIPA requirements.

7. Data retention

We retain your personal data for as long as necessary to fulfil the purposes for which it was collected. For members, this is the duration of your membership plus a reasonable period thereafter. For newsletter subscribers, until you unsubscribe. For event attendees, up to two years following the event.

8. Your rights

Under GDPR and PIPA, you have the right to:

  • Access your personal data and receive a copy
  • Rectify inaccurate or incomplete data
  • Request erasure of your data (subject to legal obligations)
  • Restrict or object to certain processing activities
  • Data portability — receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format
  • Withdraw consent at any time, without affecting the lawfulness of prior processing

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at info@kicci.ie.

If you are in the EU, you also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Irish Data Protection Commission (dataprotection.ie) or your local supervisory authority. If you are in Korea, you may contact the Personal Information Protection Commission (pipc.go.kr).

9. Cookies and analytics

This website uses Google Analytics to help us understand how visitors interact with our site. Google Analytics uses cookies — small text files placed on your device — to collect standard usage data such as pages visited, time spent on site, and referring URLs.

Google Analytics is loaded only after you have given explicit consent via the cookie banner displayed on your first visit. If you decline, no analytics cookies are set and no data is collected.

The cookies set by Google Analytics include:

  • _ga — distinguishes unique visitors (expires after 2 years)
  • _ga_[ID] — maintains session state (expires after 2 years)

We have configured Google Analytics with IP anonymisation enabled, meaning your full IP address is never stored. We do not use Google Analytics for advertising, remarketing, or cross-site tracking. Data collected is used solely to improve this website.

You can withdraw your consent at any time by clearing your browser cookies for this site, which will cause the consent banner to reappear on your next visit. You can also opt out of Google Analytics across all websites by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
